Photos: ‘This is Us’ Premiere

Hello!
First of all, sorry for the delay on updating. Been experiencing computer issues, and it’s being hard to deal with site updates. Not sure when it will be fixed but I’ll try to keep the updates coming.

Back in September 25, Justin attended (alongside wife Chrishell and daughter Bella) the premiere for This is Us season 3. They also had a screening for the first episode, and we finally have HQs added in our gallery.

Justin Hartley Talks Kevin’s Journey

ET’s Katie Krause caught up with the actor behind the character, Justin Hartley, at Entertainment Weekly’s 2018 Pre-Emmy Party on Saturday to chat about what fans can expect to see in season three, and if he’s got what it takes to make it through his battle with addiction and grieving the loss of his father Jack (Milo Ventimiglia).

Well he’s fresh from that. He’s in recovery. He’s in remission but he’s barely there. I think he’s got one foot in the door, but the other one’s on a banana peel, maybe.”

Justin added that his on-screen alter ego’s demons concern him, including whether or not he’ll survive and make it through all the ups and downs. On the popular drama, fans have seen his co-star Sterling K. Brown’s character Randall aged in the future, but not Kevin.

” … Because on our show you never know, you might not live,” he acknowledged, before answering “Yes!” when asked if he’s worried about Kevin dying.

“I’m not going to — listen, I’m not too cool for school. I’m going to tell you the truth, I mean, ‘worry’ is a strong word. I don’t worry about it but I do think about it when people bring it up. [Kevin] was on very thin ice there last season so we’ll see what happens.”

Hartley also teased that there will be a This Is Us cast surprise at the Emmys!

“I can tell you that I know what it is. I can tell you that it’s very, very, very cool! Very well-deserved. It’s special, it’s going to be fun, and I think everyone will enjoy it, but I think especially — internally — we’ll enjoy it as a cast. It’s amazing! It’s awesome!”

“I think it’s going to make people stand up and cheer,” he added. “It involves the entire cast because we’re so close.”

This is Us: Justin says Vietnam revelations about Jack are ‘shocking’

EW – The last time you saw Kevin Pearson (Justin Hartley), it was at the end of the season 2 finale of This Is Us and he was headed to Vietnam with his new girlfriend, a.k.a. Beth’s cousin, to learn more about Jack’s life there during the Vietnam War.

The next time you see Kevin Pearson, he’s not going to get those answers, but sometime after that, he will start to. “He’s going there — it’s a healing thing for him — so he’s going to get a lot of information, some stuff that he didn’t know and didn’t expect,” Hartley tells EW. “And it’s going to jar a few things.”

What Kevin uncovers about the time that his deceased father (Milo Ventimiglia) spent overseas during the war is “super heartbreaking ” and “shocking,” according to Hartley. “It’s not what anyone is expecting,” he says. “No one is going to see it coming. It’s ambitious stuff…. Here’s the cool thing about it: At the end of season 3 when you go back and watch the beginning of the series, you’re going to [be] like, ‘Wow, it all works,’ but you never would see any of this coming. I don’t know what those writers are eating, but it’s brain food. They’re brilliant.”

Hartley also offers a few hints about Kevin’s budding relationship with Zoe (Melanie Liburd) by asking questions instead of answering them. “Do they fall in love quickly? Are they friends? Are they lovers? What’s going on with that?” he says. Whatever this connection is, his sister-in-law, Beth (Susan Kelechi Watson), apparently will have trouble embracing the idea that her brother-in-law — yes, the man who got pulled over for a DUI with her daughter in the car — and her cousin are interested in each other romantically. “It’s not going to go over [well],” says Hartley. “What do you think it’s going to be — smooth or rocky? I think rocky. Rocky’s more fun.”

And since we’re throwing out questions, what is going on with ex-wife-turned-girlfriend-turned-ex-girlfriend Sophie (Alexandra Breckenridge)? “Does she come back [to him]?” he continues. “I don’t know why she would come back. Does he want her back? I think she’s probably done at this point.”

In other Kevin news, Hartley has even more questions for you to ponder about the fresh-out-of-rehab actor’s war movie with Ron Howard. “Does he become a massive celebrity or is the movie a flop?” he says. “It’s a Ron Howard movie, so it’s not going to be a flop. Does he win an award? How’s he going to deal with that? Does his sobriety get in the way? Does it help him? And what if the movie doesn’t do well, how does he deal with that?”

Those questions and more will be tackled when This Is Us returns to NBC for season 3 on Sept. 25.

This is Us: Showrunners Tease ‘Hopeful’ Season 3

Today was the NBC’s Drama Panel at the Television Critics Assoc. summer press tour, and co-showrunner Elizabeth Berger said lightness will overtake the darkness in This Is Us‘ upcoming third season. “We felt like at the end of Season 2, our family had grieved and processed [Jack’s death].”

The Season 3 premiere — which is set to air on Tuesday, Sept. 25 (9/8c, NBC) — once again centers on the Big 3’s big day. “We are picking up with [Randall, Kate and Kevin] turning 38,” shared co-showrunner Isaac Aptaker, before adding, “Our storylines are going to catch up to all of those [flash-forward scenes from the Season 2 finale] over the course of this year.”

Aptaker also confirmed that “we are going to be spending a lot of time in Vietnam” exploring Jack’s war-torn origin story. Added Berger: “There’s something very freeing about being past the mystery of Jack’s death and moving into this new chapter and being able to tell a completely different kind of story. To be all of a sudden [writing] about the Vietnam War is very special and different.
